The Ginger Rogers No 4: Let’s Face the Music and Dance Greetings Card features the fourth of a series of six charcoal and chalk drawings by Emily Tellwright.
These drawings show a selection of Ginger Rogers poses from the famous series of musical films she made at RKO in the 1930s with Fred Astaire.
I think this is from the most stylish routine Astaire and Rogers ever did, Let’s Face the Music and Dance in the 1936 film Follow the Fleet. This is a melancholy, dramatic number with dramatic lighting and this amazing dress with heavy beading. I wanted to celebrate Ginger’s poise, her expressive ability and her fabulous dresses.
