The Not Quite Autumn Greetings Card shows one of my favourite works. One which feels both intimate and beautifully poignant. It’s an evocation of that melancholy turn of the seasons when summer is fading but the bounty of autumn has not quite arrived. This is art that is perfect for bereavement, condolences or other sensitive occasions.
This greetings card shows a charcoal, chalk and coloured pencil drawing on grey Strathmore paper. An over-blown rose drapes across a table. Next to it is the first rosy apple of the year and a handful of shiny cobnuts.
Here is a simple scene that celebrates the natural rhythm of life. As the long, warm days of summer fade with the flowers, the fresh mornings of autumn bring us a delicious and nutritious harvest. Nothing lasts forever, but life and nature always have something new around the corner.
