Behind the Scenes

The headquarters of Castle Sefton Press are in this small study in Stoke-on-Trent, although I like to work in the garden when the weather is good enough. You can see we have plenty of books! Read on to find out about the resident authors and artists.

John Blake

Author and Artist

JB is my partner and fellow inhabitant of Castle Sefton. He’s also an author and artist. Though not directly involved in running the publishing business or the website, you will find his work for sale in our online shop.

He also makes very good coffee for busy business owners!

One thing that JB does not like to contribute is information about himself. He’s always preferred to let his art and writing speak for themselves. But we have managed to extract a few details so you can find out more about JB.

About Our Books

Castle Sefton Press publications all have a few things in common.

  • Adult Fiction. We only publish fictional works for adults.
  • Entertaining. We want our books to be enjoyable reading. They have inventive plots and are often humorous, but not cosy.
  • Literary. We like good use of language and well-structured stories with more than trivial significance. It is our belief that this does not mean books need be difficult, elitist or depressing.
  • All our books are available in paperback and ebook.
  • We contract the services of the best editors and proofreaders, ensuring our publications are of the highest standard.
  • Design work, typesetting, marketing and promotion is done in-house, ensuring that we deliver a unique product to our readers. Authors do their own cover art as part of a complete creative experience.
