The Ginger Rogers Mug No 1 shows the first three in a series of six charcoal and chalk drawings on grey Strathmore paper.

These drawings show a selection of Ginger Rogers poses. All are from the series of musicals she made at RKO in the 1930s with Fred Astaire. This mug shows 'The Continental' routine from the 1934 film The Gay Divorce,  'I'll Be Hard to Handle' from the 1935 film Roberta and 'Cheek to Cheek' from the 1935 film Top Hat.

I wanted to celebrate Ginger's poise, her expressive ability and her fabulous dresses. I love 30s fashion. When you see the poses together you can see how styles evolved over the decade.
